EmailThe WICB has confirmed it has received documents relating to a US$20m lawsuit filed against it by the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA). There has been no statement from WIPA but media reports suggest the claim revolves around players without retained contracts not being issued unconditional No-Objection Certificates to play in overseas domestic leagues. The claim, filed at the Trinidad & Tobago High Court, comes on the back of a bitter and protracted dispute between WIPA and WICB over player rights and pay. The two bodies are currently in the middle of negotiations to draft a new collective bargaining agreement and memorandum of understanding to provide a path towards resolving the stand-off.
