EmailWest Indies stunned England by bowling them out for 88, winning by 25 runs, in what was thought to be an easy victory and series win for The hosts in the second T20 International. The WINDIES, playing a fresh new team, were sent into bat first and found it difficult to score in their innings, making only 113/5 in their 20 overs thanks to a fighting 35 not out from Marlon Samuels. Captain Darren Sammy and Andre Russell also chipped in to help get the West Indies over 100 runs. Requiring a mere 114 for victory, the likely game winner was England. However great fielding and bowling from the West Indies, especially from debutant Garey Mathurin, lifted the WINDIES to a stunning victory. Mathurin, a left-arm spinner from St. Lucia, opened the bowling and led the way with 3 for 9. Santokie also opened the bowling and bowled very well, taking 1-17, while Bishoo and Russell took 1 wicket each. They were also four run outs in England's 88, which lasted 16.4 overs. This win for the West Indies levels the T20I series and ends England's winning streak this summer, accomplishing in two games what India failed to do in 10. The 88 all out by England is also their lowest total in T20 Internationals. « Back Hide Comments (3) |
